WYZNANIE … „Świat, w którym się rodzimy jest dość skomplikowany, bogaty, swoimi skrajnymi elementami co dzień człowieka wystawia na próbę – niezależnie od tego czy zdajemy sobie z tego sprawę, czy nie. Niezależnie też od okoliczności człowiek szuka miejsca, w którym mógłby poczuć się bezpiecznie. Artysta z efektów oddziaływania na dostrzegalną różnorodność świata próbuje stworzyć proces funkcjonujący według nowych relacji, którego nikt inny nie może stworzyć, który poszczególne osoby będą próbowały realizować środkami artystycznymi, pisarskimi lub muzycznymi. Udana praca oznacza takie skoncentrowane spełnienie podświadomości, dzięki której może powstać produkt, który możemy ocenić, że jest dziełem sztuki. Biała płaszczyzna znajdująca się przed nami może być nośnikiem wszelkich aspektów życia: tragedii, humoru, barwności, szarości, groteski i racjonalności. Wszystkie te aspekty znamy, natomiast nikt nie wie, w jaki sposób dadzą wymierne rezultaty linie i kolory powodowane energią wewnętrznej podświadomości artysty.”

CONFESSION … „The world in which we are born is quite complicated, rich and every day tends to put us to the test with its extreme elements, whether we realise it or not. Regardless of the circumstances, everybody searches for a place in which they can feel safe. The artist will use the effects of the perceptible diversity of the world in an attempt to create a process that functions according to new relations, which may not be created by anyone else, and which some persons will try to make with artistic, literary or musical tools. Successful work means such a concentrated fulfilment of the subconsciousness which may result in a product that may be considered to be a piece of art. The white surface in front of us may convey all aspects of life: tragedy, humour, colourfulness, greyness, grotesque and rationality. We know all those aspects but nobody knows how the lines and colours driven by the energy of the artist’s subconsciousness would yield notable results.”

István Burai

Urodził się 13 kwietnia 1951 roku w Debreczynie. Uczęszczał do lokalnej szkoły artystycznej. Był członkiem Koła i Studio Sztuk Pięknych Ferenca Medgyessy w latach 1969-1985. Jego mistrzem był László Félegyházi i Lajos Bíró. Od 1988 roku  jest członkiem wydziału graficznego Węgierskiego Krajowego Stowarzyszenia Artystów, a od 2001 roku także Krajowego Zarządu. Od 1998 roku jest członkiem Stowarzyszenia Węgierskich Malarzy, oraz honorowym członkiem KARTC (Stowarzyszenie Literatury i Sztuki). Jest członkiem, Stowarzyszenia Artystów i Mecenasów Debreczyn, a także Stowarzyszenia Artystów Grafików im. Dürera Ajtósiego, którego jest wiceprezesem. Był organizatorem kolonii artystów w Hajdúböszörmény w latach 1990-1995, 2009, 2001-2005 w Hortobágy. Ma w dorobku 66 wystaw indywidualnych, ponad 200 wystaw zbiorowych w kraju i za granicą.

He was born on 13 April 1951, in Debrecen. He attended the lokalart school. He was a member of the Ferenc Medgyessy Studio of Fine Art between 1969-1985. His masterswere László Félegyházi and Lajos Bíró. Since 1988 he has beena a member of the graphic section of the National Associanation of Hungarian Artist and also of the National Committee. Since 1998 he has been the member of the Association of Hungarian Painters. He is the honorary member of KARTC, the Association of Literature and Art. He is the founder member of the Assocation of Artists and Maecenas of Debrecen and also of the Ajtósi Dűrer Graphic Association, which he is the vice president of. He is the organizer of the ocolony of artists in Hajdúböszörmény between 1990-1995, 2009, and in Hortobágy between 2001-2005. He has had 66 solo exhibitions and over 200 group exhibitions in the country and abroad .
